Fancy your own foray into French flavour? Then these are the recipes you should cook this week. I can vouch they’re all rich, sumptuous and true examples of la bonne cuisine. Pair with a glass of crisp Chablis, and consider your next Netflix night in sorted.
First stop, the nearest crêpe stall for a creamy veg-packed pancake. This recipe calls for our pizza base mix, but plain flour works just as well. It’s a great one for Shrove Tuesday too.
Some classics don’t need improving. The Gousto chefs have one trick up their sleeves though – using vinegar instead of wine, so everyone can enjoy it. But… if your hand happens to slip, and a slug of vino tumbles in, I’ll keep it between us.

This dish is all about simple flavours at their finest. Crisp golden fish, atop garlicky mash, doused in a zingy lemon and caper brown butter sauce. And you know what they say: mo’ butter, mo’ better.
As timeless as it is tantalising. The amount of mustard may seem a lot on paper, but it gives the lentils that delicious je ne sais quoi.
And for the pièce de résistance, a skier’s delight usually found on the Alps. This one’s loaded with Rablochoix cheese – which, since it left the menu two Christmases ago, I can’t find anywhere. Know any French cheesemongers? If not, gruyère works great.
