A Q&A With a Junior Project Manager at Gousto
Lizzy joined Gousto in March 2020 in our Propositions team as an Associate Project Manager. In December, she was promoted to Junior Project Manager.
Tell us what your role as a Junior Project Manager entails
My role is to deliver propositional projects on time and in full. Projects can be super varied across the whole of Gousto, so propositional projects are specifically anything which brings a change to the customer experience.
On a day to day basis I work with each project team to manage and deliver progress against targets. A large part of the role is communicating updates, risks and considerations to key stakeholders across the business which will enable the project to be delivered successfully.
What do you love most about your job?
Being part of implementing new and exciting change! As a PM, change is the aim of the game and I have worked on a lot of operational projects to support expanding capacity to deliver just that. Now, most of my projects are focused around sustainability and enhancing the unboxing experience. Everyday I have the opportunity to work with lots of different teams to drive amazing new initiatives like our 2022 Packaging Pledge.
What was your dream job when you were younger
I’m a country girl at heart and grew up with seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables straight from the garden. Because of this I have always been obsessed with food, especially the story behind the ingredients on my plate. That’s why my dream job ever since I was little was to be a chef.
Now that I’m a little older, I have chosen a job with a lot more sociable hours, but I am always seeking out new cookery courses to learn more about food!
What’s the best thing about working at Gousto?
Can I say 2 things? The second best thing is having freedom to take on awesome new challenges and being rewarded by seeing the positive impact these have on the customer. But without a doubt the best thing about Gousto is the culture & people who work here. I have built so many friendships with people who are innovative, passionate and driven which is what makes me excited to come to work each day.
What’s been your best memory at Gousto so far?
One of my best memories so far happened just after joining in March. I was given the opportunity to work on a project called Feed the Nation at our Springfields factory, which focused on expanding our capacity because of the acceleration in demand due to lockdown.
Why it’s one of my favourite memories is because after only 3 months at the company I got to see how work I was doing directly impacted the customer, something which I had never experienced in previous roles. Being able to join a scale up business at such a critical stage of its development has given me so much brilliant experience. It’s crazy how much Gousto has grown and improved since I joined 18 months ago, it makes me excited to see what’s next!
