Cooking Instructions
Instructions for 2 people (double for 4)
1 2473 - Meatless Biryani

Peel and dice the brown onion[s]

Peel (scrape the skin off with a teaspoon) and finely chop (or grate) the ginger

Peel and finely chop (or grate) the garlic

Heat a large, wide-based pan (preferably non-stick, with a matching lid), with 1 tbsp [2 tbsp] vegetable oil over a high heat

Once hot, add the diced onion, chopped ginger and garlic and curry powder with a pinch of salt and pepper

Cook for 4-5 min or until starting to soften

Meanwhile, cut the green beans in half

Add the meat-free mince to the pan

Cook for 3-4 min, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as you go

Crumble in 1/2 [1] Knorr vegetable stock cube and add the tomato paste

Cook for a further 2 min or until the meat-free mince is starting to brown

Stir in the basmati rice

Add 450ml [800ml] cold water to the pan and bring to the boil over a high heat

Add the halved green beans and sultanas

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and cook, covered, for 10-15 min or until the water is absorbed and the rice cooked

Once cooked, taste for seasoning, adding more salt and pepper if needed – this is your meat-free biryani

Tip: Add a splash of water if the rice is not cooked or the mixture is looking a little dry
