Before you begin...

Get all your ingredients and equipment ready

Skim through these steps, then wash your fruit and veg

Note: Equipment and pan sizes vary. Make sure you cook food thoroughly (even if it takes you a little longer than 10 mins)

Now, let's get started!

Boil half a kettle

Heat a large, wide-based pan (preferably non-stick with a matching lid), with a drizzle of vegetable oil over a medium heat

Squeeze the pouch[es] of the steamed white basmati rice, making sure to separate the grains

Add the ginger & garlic paste and steamed white basmati rice to the pan and give everything a good mix up

Add the ground turmeric to the pan and crumble in 1/2 [1] Knorr vegetable stock cube

Pour in 200ml [380ml] boiled water and stir it all together

Wash the baby leaf spinach, then pat it dry with kitchen paper

Add the washed spinach and half the dried chilli flakes to the pan (can't handle the heat? Go easy!)

Give everything a good mix up, then sit the smoked basa over the rice and cook, covered, for 3-4 mins

Trim, then chop the spring onion[s] roughly

Roll the lemon[s] with your hand on a hard surface (to release more juice) and cut in half

After 3-4 mins, break the fish into chunks in the pan with a wooden spoon and stir it through the rice

Cook, covered, for 1-2 min further or until the fish is cooked through

Tip: Your fish is cooked once it turns opaque and flakes easily!

Once cooked, add the juice of 1/2 [1] lemon and a pinch of salt and stir it all together until fully combined – this is your smoked fish & spinach pilau rice
