Cooking Instructions
Instructions for 2 people (double for 4)
1 Sticky Chinese Pork Chops, Pak Choi & Rice

Add the basmati rice, a pinch of salt and 300ml [600ml] cold water to a pot with a lid and bring to the boil over a high heat

Once boiling, reduce the heat to very low and cook, covered, for 10-15 min or until all the water has been absorbed and the rice is cooked

Once cooked, remove from the heat and keep covered until serving

While the rice is cooking, trim the base from the pak choi and separate the individual leaves

Trim the spring onions, then cut each spring onion into 3 segments 

Peel and finely chop (or grate) the garlic

Heat a large, wide-based pan (preferably non-stick) with a drizzle of vegetable oil over a high heat

Once hot, add the pork loin steaks and cook for 2-3 min on each side or until they're browned and cooked through

Once done, transfer the pork loin steaks to a clean chopping board or plate, cover with a clean tea towel and leave them to rest until serving

Reserve the pan for the next step

Return the pan to a medium heat with a drizzle of vegetable oil

Once hot, add the pak choispring onion segments and a generous pinch of salt and cook, covered, for 3-4 min or until both are softened

Once softened, add the chopped garlic and toasted sesame oil and cook for 1 min further

Meanwhile, heat a second pan (preferably non-stick) over medium-low heat 

Once hot, add the soy sauce, hoisin sauce and honey and cook for 1-2 min or until thickened to a sticky consistency

Once sticky, remove the pan from the heat and add the rested pork steaks

Turn the pork steaks in the sauce until fully coated

Tip: slice the steaks finely before returning them to the pan for easier eating!
