In winter and spring, we work with farmers in Portugal to keep the supply of cabbage flowing all year round.<\/p>\n<p>Alan Grummitt, who\u2019s been farming Chinese leaf with G\u2019s for over 30 years, reckons there are\u00a0two things that make it special:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-8351\" src=\"https:\/\/gousto.gurucloud.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/Farmer1.jpg\" alt=\"chinese leaf farmer\" width=\"1359\" height=\"751\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At Gousto, we often use Chinese leaf in Asian-inspired dishes like our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gousto.co.uk\/cookbook\/vegetarian-recipes\/indonesian-veggie-nasi-goreng\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Indonesian Veggie Nasi Goreng<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gousto.co.uk\/cookbook\/beef-recipes\/asian-hoisin-meatballs-sesame-cabbage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Asian Hoisin Meatballs &amp; Sesame Cabbage<\/a><\/strong> recipes but, as Alan points out, there are many ways to cook this tasty vegetable!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gousto.co.uk\/cookbook\/beef-recipes\/asian-hoisin-meatballs-sesame-cabbage\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8339 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/gousto.gurucloud.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/AsianMeatball1.jpg\" alt=\"Asian Hoisin Meatballs &amp; Sesame Cabbage\" width=\"1360\" height=\"751\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><strong>How\u00a0To Cook Chinese Leaf<\/strong><\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li><strong><strong>Chinese leaf cups<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong>Separate the leaves of the Chinese cabbage and make a sweet, salty, sticky and spicy beef filling to go inside. Fry beef mince, grated carrot, chopped garlic, ginger and chilli until the beef is crisp and browned all over. Next, add a couple of tablespoons of chilli jam and a splash of soy sauce and cook until sticky.Fill the Chinese leaf cups with the spicy beef mix, top with a sprinkling of sesame seeds and some cucumber matchsticks to cool everything down. (You can also do this with little gem lettuce, like in this recipe for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gousto.co.uk\/cookbook\/pork-recipes\/fast-mu-shu-pork-lettuce-boats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fast Mu Shu Pork Lettuce Boats<\/a><\/strong>).<\/li>\n<li><strong><strong>Tasty taco toppings<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong>Try fusing Mexican and Asian cooking by using Chinese leaf in taco recipes.Shred the Chinese leaf and add it to a bowl. Squeeze in the juice of a lime and add a generous drizzle of olive oil, a pinch of salt and pepper, chopped coriander and a little chopped chilli if you like it hot!The result?
