We were lucky enough to have tried the awesome marshmallows made with this family recipe when Hannah, one of our recipe developers, brought in some of her mum&#8217;s marshmallows for us all to try at Gousto HQ. They were\u00a0<em>so\u00a0<\/em>good. Really, you&#8217;ve\u00a0not tried marshmallows like these before! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>After we&#8217;d had our first taste, we just couldn&#8217;t stop thinking about these marshmallows, so we managed to convince\u00a0Momma Mariaux to share her recipe with us&#8230;and you! They&#8217;re perfect for enjoying fireside, but also go brilliantly with a chocolate fondue or even dipped in an Irish Hot Chocolate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Thanks Momma Mariaux for this perfect recipe!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6759\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gousto.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Marshmallows_01610.jpg\" alt=\"easy homemade marshmallow recipe\" width=\"1757\" height=\"1316\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span>Ingredients:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>9 leaves of gelatine<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>450g caster sugar<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>1 tbsp glucose<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>2 egg whites<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>1 tsp vanilla extract<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>vegetable oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>corn flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span>icing sugar<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span>Method:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>1. Soak\u00a0<\/strong>the gelatine leaves in 140ml of cold water for 10 min<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>2. Combine<\/strong>\u00a0the caster sugar and glucose in a saucepan with 200ml cold water and bring to 127\u00b0C (260\u00b0F). Meanwhile, whisk two egg whites to form firm peaks<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>3. Remove<\/strong> the sugar and glucose mix\u00a0from the heat once it has reached temperature and add the gelatine with the water and stir to combine<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>4. Pour<\/strong> the gelatinous mix onto\u00a0the egg whites gradually, then add 1 tsp of vanilla extract\u00a0and combine <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Tip: At this point you can add food colouring to create coloured marshmallows!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>5. Whisk<\/strong> the mixture at a high speed for 10 min <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>6. Grease<\/strong> a deep tin or tray with vegetable oil, then dust with a mix of icing sugar and cornflour. Then pour in the marshmallow mix<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>7. Refrigerate<\/strong> for at least 2 hrs (ideally overnight)<br \/>\n<\/span><span>Tip: Make sure the tray is level otherwise your marshmallow mix will run! <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><strong>8. Remove<\/strong> from the fridge, dust your fingers and a chopping board with a mix of cornflour and icing sugar, gently prise the marshmallow sheet out of the tray and lay it onto the dusted chopping board before cutting into cubes or shapes and threading onto skewers<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6758\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gousto.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/perfect-homemade-marshmallows.jpg\" alt=\"perfect homemade marshmallows\" width=\"1757\" height=\"1316\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span>This is such a fantastic recipe that makes\u00a0light, cloudlike homemade marshmallows which are delightfully moreish &#8211; perfect for bonfire night.
