What&#8217;s more, it&#8217;s simple, serves six and preparation is pretty much knife-free, making it a great way to get the kids involved in the kitchen.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0you&#8217;ve made\u00a0it once we\u00a0reckon you&#8217;ll be hunting for Easter treats out of season to try it again!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ingredients:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>6 leftover hot cross buns<\/li>\n<li>Leftover Easter egg shards<\/li>\n<li>400ml cream<\/li>\n<li>300ml whole milk<\/li>\n<li>5 eggs<\/li>\n<li>80g salted butter<\/li>\n<li>100g brown sugar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Cooking Method:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1.<strong>\u00a0Preheat\u00a0<\/strong>the oven to 170<b>\u00b0<\/b> C\/ 150<b>\u00b0<\/b> C fan\/ Gas 3<\/p>\n<p>2.<strong>\u00a0Warm<\/strong> the cream and milk in a pan over a gentle heat<\/p>\n<p>3.<strong>\u00a0Whisk<\/strong> the eggs and sugar together with a fork in a large bowl, then gradually add the warm cream mixture<\/p>\n<p>4.<strong>\u00a0Halve<\/strong> the buns, spread with butter and arrange them in a shallow ovenproof dish<\/p>\n<p>5.<strong>\u00a0Pour<\/strong> over the cream mixture and set aside to soak for 15 min<\/p>\n<p>6.<strong>\u00a0Press<\/strong> the buns down into the mixture as they soften so that they absorb as much as possible<\/p>\n<p>7.<strong>\u00a0Poke<\/strong>\u00a0shards of your leftover Easter eggs down in between the buns<\/p>\n<p>8.<strong>\u00a0Bake<\/strong> for 50 min or until just set with a bit of wobble<\/p>\n<p>9.<strong>\u00a0Allow<\/strong> to cool slightly, then\u00a0tuck in!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>OK, so the idea of leftover chocolate might seem crazy, but with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/femail\/food\/article-4360586\/17-700-calorie-Easter-chocolate-feast-awaiting-children.html\">the average child in the UK expected to receive 13 Easter eggs this year<\/a><\/strong> &#8211; the calorie equivalent of 200 Krispy Kreme donughts &#8211; we think it&#8217;s fair enough to turn some of that chocolate haul into a fun, family-friendly Easter dessert.<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re looking for another idea about how to use up excess Easter chocolate and treats, take a look at our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gousto.co.uk\/blog\/recipes\/easter-easy-rocky-road-recipe\">&#8216;Hoppy Road&#8217; recipe<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Do you have any other tips for how to use up leftovers at Easter?
