Founded in 2016, these British bottle designers have made it their mission to reduce the wine industry\u2019s carbon footprint, by creating planet-friendly bottles (that even fit through your letterbox). Here\u2019s how it works.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s plastic fantastic<\/h2>\n

Made from fully recycled PET, instead of glass or single-use plastic, Gar\u00e7on\u2019s wine bottles generate far fewer greenhouse gas emissions and <\/i>use a fraction of the energy in production and transport.<\/p>\n

Since glass bottles and their transport make up around 50% of wine\u2019s carbon footprint, this simple swap makes all the difference to our planet.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s flat…in a good way<\/h2>\n

Now I may not know the difference between terroir <\/i>and tannins <\/i>but I do know that round bottles take up tons of space. Gar\u00e7on have solved this through ingenious design \u2014 which is now widely recognised as the most significant advancement to wine bottles in the last two centuries.<\/p>\n

What is this sorcery? Their bottles are only 40mm deep and totally flat, which means they save 40% of space and transport-related C02 emissions that contribute to global warming. Plus they\u2019re a better fit for your fridge.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s lighter than air<\/h2>\n

…and i\u2019m not just talking about their Sauvignon Blanc. Weighing in at just 63 grams, Gar\u00e7on wine bottles are 87% lighter than an average 500g glass bottle. That\u2019s not just great for you (no one likes to lug heavy bottles around), it\u2019s good for the planet because it significantly reduces carbon emission across the supply chain.<\/p>\n

If you think that means you\u2019re getting less wine for your bottle, you\u2019d be dead wrong. They hold a standard 750ml. Huzzah!<\/p>\n

It\u2019s zero waste with buckets of taste<\/h2>\n

Not only are the bottles made from fully recycled PET, they themselves are 100% recyclable with the label and cap. This means less plastic ends up in landfill or littered into our oceans.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s zero impact on taste and \u2014 here\u2019s where it gets really, really good \u2014 this future-proof vino uses advanced barrier technologies to extend its shelf-life, so you can keep your Merlot fresher for longer.<\/p>\n
