Many recipes call for soft butter, and more often than not the butter is sitting in a nice cool fridge. When you next find yourself in this predicament, fill a bowl with hot water from the tap. Let this sit for a few minutes to warm the dish. Empty the water from the bowl and place upside-down over the butter. Now your butter will be soft in a moment!
