Donate To The Trussell Trust This Christmas
This year Gousto are taking the joy of Christmas to heart.
We’ve paired up with the Trussell Trust, who run food banks up and down the country. Together we’re inviting you to share your love of food, by filling a box with non-perishable food items and donating it to your nearest food bank.
We’re hoping to help encourage 100 food box donations before the end of December. In order for us to track our combined efforts, we’re asking that you share a picture of your donation moment on social media with the hashtag #feedthefestivities.
Once you share your Trussell Trust donation image with the #feedthefestivities hashtag you will be entered into our prize draw to win 6 months worth of free Gousto boxes.
We will be donating £5 for every entry until we reach our 100 box goal so please give generously and together we can make a difference this December.
How You Can Help
1. To ensure you’re donating the food that is most needed in your local area, find and contact your nearest food bank here.
2. Fill a box (why not recycle your empty Gousto box?) with your food donation.
3. Drop off to your nearest food bank. Make sure to check the opening times on your local food bank’s website – or better yet give them a call to organise the best time for drop off.
4. Share a picture of your Trussell Trust donation moment on social media with the hashtag #feedthefestivities to be entered into our prize draw to win 6 months worth of free Gousto boxes. The lucky winner will be announced in January 2019**
Your #feedthefestivities pic can be anything to do with making your food donation. It could be a selfie of you on the way to your local collection point, a picture of you dropping off your donation, a picture of the food you’re donating, or a picture of you with your local Trussell Trust volunteers – be creative! The picture doesn’t have to look perfect the important thing is that people in need get some extra support around the holidays.
Food donation tips
Food banks in The Trussell Trust network use a standard packing list for each emergency food parcel. This is to ensure that the people who rely on these donations receive a balanced supply of food. Below are some of the items on the list…
- Beans/spaghetti in sauce
- Tomatoes/ pasta sauce
- Rice pudding/custard
- Tea or coffee
- Long-life juice
- Milk UHT
Any of these items would make a great food donation but it’s always best to contact your local food bank and check with them to make sure you’re donating the food that is most useful in your local area. Contact your local food bank now.
Thank you for your help and Merry Christmas!
