4 Cool Cocktail Recipes You Need To Try This Summer

There’s nothing better than mixing your own refreshing cocktails to sip in the sun on a nice summer’s day. While classics like mojitos and margaritas are always reliable, and adventurous new cocktails with loads of ingredients are exciting to make, there’s a lot to be said for drinks that are different and easy to make.


1. THE ZINGIBERRY

Named after ‘zingiber’ (ginger’s Latin name), redcurrant jelly, lime and vodka are mixed with ginger ale in this fun, fancy zinger.

.Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 1 lime
  • 30g dried cranberries
  • 50g rich redcurrant jelly
  • 100ml smirnoff vodka
  • 150ml schweppes ginger ale

Instructions for 1 cocktail

1. Cut half the lime into 2 wedges

2. Squeeze 1 wedge into the jar and drop in

3. Add 5cl Smirnoff vodka to the jar

4. Add 25g redcurrant jelly to the jar

5. Fill the jar with ice, attach the lid and shake to mix and chill the ingredients

6. Remove the lid and add half the Schweppes Ginger Ale to fill the jar

7. Add a straw, a sprinkling of dried cranberries to garnish and enjoy!

2. THE BEESTING

Beesting Summer Cocktail Recipe

This is the bees-knees! Our take on the whisky sours, honey and lemon juice give this cocktail a bee-like personality… nice and sweet, but with a sharp sting!

.Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 1 lemon
  • 56g honey
  • 10cl johnnie walker whisky
  • 150ml schweppes ginger ale

Instructions for 1 cocktail

1. Add 5cl Johnnie Walker and 28g honey to a jar and stir thoroughly
.
2. Grate the zest from your lemon and set aside
.
3. Juice half your lemon and add the juice to the jar
.
4. Fill the jar with ice, attach the lid and shake to mix and chill the ingredients
.
5. Remove the lid and add half the Schweppes Ginger Ale to fill the jar
.
6. Add a straw, a sprinkling of the lemon zest to garnish and enjoy!

3. SOMETIMES IT RAINS

.Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 1 lemon
  • 10cl gordon’s gin
  • 4 teaspoons caster sugar 
  • 150ml schweppes soda water

Instructions for 1 cocktail

1. Cut a long strip of lemon peel and set aside
 .
2. Juice half your lemon and add the juice and 5cl Gordon’s gin to the jar
.
3. Add two teaspoons of white caster sugar to the jar
.
4. Stir to dissolve the sugar in the gin and lemon juice
.
5. Fill the jar with ice, attach the lid and shake to mix and chill the ingredients
.
6. Remove the lid and add half the Schweppes Soda Water to fill the jar
.
7. Add a straw, twist the lemon peel in a spiral over the drink, add as a garnish and enjoy!

Summer Romance Summer Cocktail Recipe

You’ll fall in love with the refreshing tartness of this combination of gin, lemon juice and pomegranate molasses topped off with tonic water!

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 1 lemon
  • 10cl gordon’s gin
  • 50g pomegranate molasses
  • 150ml schweppes tonic water

 

Instructions for 1 cocktail

1. Cut a long strip of lemon peel and set aside

2. Juice half your lemon, then add the juice and 5cl Gordon’s gin to the jar

3. Add 25g pomegranate molasses to the jar

4. Stir to dissolve the pomegranate molasses in the gin and lemon juice

5. Fill the jar with ice, attach the lid and shake to mix and chill the ingredients

6. Remove the lid and add half the Schweppes Tonic Water to fill the jar
